Right Relations

Right Relations at McDougall United Church

McDougall United Church is committed to live into our truth and reconciliation work and strive to make meaningful and supportive connections with Indigenous people. Following the lead of Rev. Tony Snow, Indigenous Minister for the Chinook Winds Region, congregants and community members are invited to participate in activities throughout the year. Events such as blanket exercises, round dances and feasts bring Indigenous and non-Indigenous people together to learn from each other, share space and celebrate the rich culture and traditions of Treaty 7 people.

Indigenous-led healing and learning sessions provide Indigenous people of all ages access to learn their traditions in a safe and supportive environment. Watch for upcoming activities planned around significant days in the Indigenous calendar.

  • May 5 - Red Dress Day

  • June 21 - National Indigenous People’s Day

  • June 18 - Indigenous Day of Prayer

  • September 22 - Treaty Day

  • September 30 - Truth and Reconciliation Day

  • October 4 - Sisters in Spirit Day

  • December - Elders Feast and gift giving

As members of the United Church, a signatory of the 2008 Residential School Settlement Agreement, and in line with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action, join us in building relationships, advocating for justice, and honouring the traditional spirituality of Indigenous peoples.

Please reach out to Right Relations Lead, Shauna Kennedy to get involved.

Plan to attend an upcoming event today and meet others on the reconciliation journey.
