Adult Groups

McDougall groups include mommies looking for some “me time”, caregivers sharing resources and cooks trying to spice up what’s going on the dinner table. Most groups run from September until about June. You can give us a ring at the office or call the contacts listed below if you want more details about how to join.

Outreach & Community Care:

Community Kitchen: Pick from recipes such as Marla's Maple Pork or Italian Sausage Tortellini Soup and spend a day in the kitchen with us. We'll prepare meals you can take home to your freezer, or right to the dinner table. Members pay according to how many servings they take and they save money and time every month they attend. Just register at least a week in advance for a spot. 

  • Friday Mini Cook (making 7-8 meals). 9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. Kitchen. 2018 dates: June 1.  

Healing Pathway: This healing ministry group uses gentleness and care when practicing its skills. Working with the body's energy system, members continue to enhance their skills and techniques to promote deep relaxation and healing of the mind, body and spirit. Appointments must be booked. Heritage Time Out: For women of all ages. We offer crafts, conversation, coffee and babysitting. Cost is nominal. Wednesdays at 9 a.m. in Hospitality Hall. Contact the office at 403-250-1620. 

  • Fall schedule: Sept. 12 to Nov. 28.  

Alzheimer’s Support Group: A support group for caregivers of those suffering from Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. It meets the second and fourth Thursday of every month in the M&M Room. For information or to attend contact Clara Fluker at 403-271-9570. 10 - 11 a.m. M&M Room. 

  • 2018 dates: May 10 & 24 and June 14 & 28.

School Lunch Program (Sharing our Table): Outreach volunteers make nutritional lunches for school children. They usually meet the first Monday of the month at 9:30 a.m. to make lunch, then deliver them at 10:30 a.m. 

Prayer Shawl Ministry: If you like to knit or crochet, there’s a spot for you in this ministry. Members create shawls that are blessed with prayers and given to people in need of spiritual comfort. Blessed prayer shawls are available in the Chapel. Please feel free to take one to give to family or friends in need of prayer. Ruth Hall. Next Meeting: Thursday September 20 at 1:30 pm. Music Groups :

Ukulele Absolute Beginners: Monday at 1 p.m., Chapel.  

Collective Spirit: Music Leader Tanya Wan Lim brings musicians together for McDougall’s worship band. Weekly practices are on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. M&M Room. 

Ukulele Club: Learn to play the ukulele, it's simple! For more information please contact Will Mehew 403-510-2471. Weekly sessions from September to June. Wednesdays 7:30 - 9 p.m. Ruth Hall. 

Women's Chorus: Join our small ensemble and sing a variety of music. Rehearsals: Thursday evenings 6:15 p.m. - 7:15 p.m.

McDougall Singers: Our traditional mixed choir includes singers of various levels and participates in most services.Rehearsals: Thursdays 7:20 p.m. - 9 p.m.


Afternoon Book Discussion Group: All are welcome to join monthly meetings to read and discuss a variety of books picked by members. Drop-ins are always welcome. 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. M&M Room. Contact: Heather Smith by email at 2018 Schedule:

Curiosity Club on Christianity: Everyone is welcome to walk into this group’s monthly meetings to learn about and discuss early church history -- from Jesus to Constantine.  7:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. one Tuesday a month. Lower Hall, Holy Grounds Coffee Lounge. Contact: Brian Dowse, 403-201-3091.

Friendship Club: This group hosts game nights, speakers and other activities. New members are always welcome. Contact Rudy Rumpel or Jean MacEachern. 7-10 p.m. Hospitality Hall.

God at the Movies: Movie goers of all sorts are welcome to join this group. The first Tuesday of the month from October to June. Head to a movie, then it’s off to a nearby coffee shop for a cup and some conversation. Contact: Mary or Gordon Stevens at 403-271-1884. You can join this group by meeting at the theatre at 6:45 p.m.

Ladies Fellowship: With a focus on friendship, education and outreach, this group meets at 9 a.m. in the McDougall kitchen to make sandwiches for the Woods Home Youth Exit Program (a drop in facility for youth in downtown Calgary). All are welcome. Contact: Marilyn Bily 403-271-2931.

Ladies of Literature: Read and discuss a variety of books picked out by group members. They take turns facilitating monthly meetings and bringing snacks and beverages to share. Contact: Ruth Dunsire 403-271-2846. 7:15 to 9 p.m. M&M Room.

Men’s Club: This men's group hosts a tasty breakfast each month, followed by a short meeting which may include a guest speaker, films or tours of interest. These guys are pretty popular when it comes time to grab your pancakes during the Annual Stampede Breakfast and while hosting other congregation-wide events such as the Fall Supper and the Valentine’s Day Breakfast. 8:30 - 10:30 a.m. Hospitality Hall.

Multifolkals: We welcome all folks (50 plus) who enjoy group activities held six times a year. This includes social events in the church or at another venue of choice. Please call Lynda Smith at 403-201-9031 to have your name added to the group.
