Meet the Team
Joanne Anquist, Lead Worship & Service Minister
Joanne had wanted to become a minister since she was kid, but it wasn’t until three children, several careers later and at age 50, that she went back to school to complete her MDiv. After practicing law and working at several United Churches in Calgary, felt the call yet again and answered “okay God.” She attended Seminary in Halifax, interned in Oyen and was called as Lead Minister at McDougall in July 2016. Her Sunday services are a balancing act. Joanne believes God enters when people are truly human -- when they’re honest with themselves and who they are. Stories often include the good and bad of humanity. They can be unsettling and sometimes even wrong, other times the ancient writings serve as insights to our everyday lives.

Tony Snow, Coordinator Community Care
From the Stoney Nakoda Nation, Tony joined McDougall in what he calls a full circle step that reinforces his community's historic partnership with the man who shares our church's namesake, Rev. George McDougall. He worked in Communications in the oil and gas industry, but as job opportunities dwindled in the thick of the economic downturn, Tony began studying theology at the Sandy-Saulteaux Spiritual Centre. He believes his path to becoming a minister was eventual, with the influence of his late father Dr. Rev. Chief John Snow, a renowned spiritual and political leader in southern Alberta. Tony has seen first hand how people often lose their faith in hard times. In his new role, he hopes to bring light to our church's struggling and vulnerable members.
Tanya Wan Lim, Contemporary Music Leader
Tanya is a familiar figure at McDougall, she was assistant music director from 2011-2014 serving as accompanist and leader of the worship band. Tanya received a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Alberta and a Masters of Music from the University of British Columbia. She has also served as accompanist at Hillhurst United church and other choral groups. She is familiar with the order and flow of church services, our music repertoire and a wide range music genres. Tanya is looking forward to playing a stronger role in McDougall’s music program as leader and accompanist for Collective Spirit.
