Prepared to Drown: Special Guest for February

Prepared to Drown is a monthly recorded podcast & live event with a variety of exciting themes exploring the intersection of faith & the world we live in today. Our next live recording is Friday, February 20, 2026

Podcast Episode: “Drawn from the Headwaters”

Scripture has always invited us to imagine beyond the page. This episode explores biblical fan fiction as creative retellings, backstories, and “what-ifs” that generations have used to search for deeper meaning. From ancient midrash to modern queer and marginalized voices, how can imaginative storytelling sharpen our faith, challenge our assumptions, and reveal truths the text leaves unsaid?

Podcast features: Rev. Bill Weaver and Ricardo De Menezes, with special guest Rev. Dave Holmes.

Let’s learn more about Rev. Dave Holmes.

Dave Holmes is a United Church minister, currently at St. Andrew's United in Lacombe Alberta.  He's been doing this minister thing for a long time, and loves it!  He has a very gifted spouse and life partner, Karen, two grown sons, and two granddaughters who keep him regularly amazed and enthralled.  In spare time, he watches birds, is a mediocre but enthusiastic curler, and is a member of a musical duo called Poplar and 51st.

We hope that you will consider coming out and joining us live.
