The Benevolent Fund: Keeps Individuals’ Privacy
Two weeks ago we told you about an exciting opportunity where donations made to the Benevolent Fund between January 18 and February 15th will be matched up to $10,000. If you missed the announcement and want to learn more about what the Benevolent fund is, please read last week’s post. This week we continue our campaign with an example of why this fund is so important for the church.
Benevolent Fund Provides Help While Keeping Individuals Privacy
Many of us know how difficult it can be to ask for help, especially in moments when it feels like we are the only ones falling behind or struggling to keep up. Most of us also know, if we’re honest, that we all need help from time to time … particularly during the hardest seasons of our lives.
The Benevolent Fund exists to make space for that reality. It is a ministry of care held in trust, designed so that help can be offered with dignity, privacy, and respect. While the use of the fund is reported transparently and responsibly, the people who receive assistance are never identified. Their names and stories are held confidentially by the Pastoral Care Minister and ministry team.
This approach is somewhat unique. Many charitable funds rely on public stories or visible outcomes. The Benevolent Fund operates differently, rooted in the belief that dignity is not something people earn through disclosure. Support can be offered quietly, without exposure, and without requiring someone to carry the weight of public scrutiny at a vulnerable moment.
This matters because how help is offered shapes how it is received. Being met with compassion, confidentiality, and trust can help someone steady themselves and take their next steps forward. Through this fund, the church is able to offer practical support while also honouring the full humanity of those who come seeking help.
The Benevolent Fund is one of the ways our communities live their calling to faithfully care for the wider community. As this campaign continues, we remain grateful for the generosity already shared and for the shared commitment it reflects to being a community where care is offered with integrity, humility, and grace.
Matching Donation Opportunity
Thanks to the generosity of a committed supporter, our community has been given a remarkable opportunity: all gifts to the Benevolent Fund will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to a total of $10,000. In the weeks ahead, we’ll be sharing stories and insights into the meaningful work this fund makes possible, and the many ways it quietly strengthens individuals and families in times of need.
Your contribution during this matching period will go twice as far, providing sustained support for a ministry that plays a vital role in our shared life together.
