Prepared to Drown is a monthly recorded podcast & live event with a variety of exciting themes exploring the intersection of faith & the world we live in today.
Podcast Episode: “Don’t Be Afraid”
Angels in scripture rarely resemble the gentle figures of modern Christmas cards. They appear amid visions, fire, darkness, trembling, and encounters so overwhelming that their first words are often “Do not be afraid.” We are also living through a period of accumulated dread: wildfire skies, distant wars, artificial images that blur the line between truth and fabrication, growing loneliness, and political movements that turn anxiety into suspicion and control. As Alberta approaches a referendum charged with grievance and existential questions about our future, what can these strange biblical stories teach us about fear? Where does destructive terror end and sacred awe begin, and what might we recover by allowing faith to remain mysterious, unsettling, and larger than anything we can control?
