McDougall’s Leadership Council is the governing body of the church. After a two-year pilot, this non-traditional governance structure was approved by the McDougall Congregation at the February 2022 Annual General Meeting.

This new structure was implemented to address the church’s needs in the following areas:

• Give greater focus to vision-related priorities

• Streamline McDougall’s administrative processes, making them less cumbersome

• Reduce the number of volunteers required to serve on committees 

• Be more flexible and responsive to emerging needs and realities

The Leadership Council is responsible for decisions related to:

• Vision, mission, and strategic planning

• Policy development and organizational oversight

• Annual budget 

• Reporting to the Congregation

• Relationship with the Chinook winds regional Council and the UCC General Council

• Pastoral relations

Members of McDougall’s Leadership Council include:

•  Council Co-Chairs, Treasurer, Secretary, Board of Trustees  Chair, McDougall Foundation Chair and Regional Council Rep(s)

• Leads of McDougall’s Ministry Teams: Worship and Spiritual Development, Pastoral Care, Family and  Community, Outreach and Social Justice

• Leads of McDougall’s Council’s Working Groups:  Operations, Ministry and Personnel, Property, Communications and Vision/Planning

• Up to 10 congregational Members-at-Large

• Quorum for Leadership Council Meetings is  1/3 of total Council members, including a MCDougall minister, a Council Co-chair, Treasurer and Secretary or designates

• Interested others are welcome to participate in discussions at Council meetings 

McDougall’s Leadership Council meets approximately quarterly throughout the year, usually on a Tuesday evening.  The Council membership is approved annually by the congregation at the February AGM. Council Co-Chairs invite congregational members and adherents to join Council  as positions become vacant through out the year.
