WEEK 5 - August 7/8
Many Pieces, One Story
Community Mural & Collaborative Art
This is where we begin moving more intentionally into image-making.
Participants will contribute paint, marks, shapes, and symbols to a large shared artwork. Working together, we will create something that would take a long time to create alone.
Afterward, the artwork will be digitally refined and transformed into commemorative stickers for everyone to take home.
This workshop explores belonging, collaboration, and the question:
"What happens when many small contributions become something larger?
What to Expect
Together, we'll look to create a large collaborative image that reflects the group's shared ideas and imagination. We'll begin by exploring a few themes and visual concepts, then spend time brainstorming as a group before settling on a direction for the artwork.
Once we've landed on an idea for our image, Danah will sketch the composition, and everyone will contribute to bringing it to life with paint. The hope is that we work together either on one large mural, or in two smaller groups, each person's marks and creative choices will become part of a single shared image.
The focus isn't on artistic skill or creating a perfect painting—it's about collaboration, conversation, and discovering what can emerge when many perspectives come together to tell one story.
Please note: As we will be working with paint. Large cover shirts will be provided, but we recommend wearing clothing you don't mind getting a little paint on.
You can learn more and sign up for just this one, or all of the workshops on our website.
