Leadership Council Second Quadrimestre Report (May - August 2025)

During the second Quadrimestre of 2025 the Leadership Council had one regularly scheduled meeting and one emergent meeting.

We continue to be grateful for the individuals who have volunteered to be a part of the Leadership Council as well as those individuals who volunteer for the variety of events and programs planned by our various ministry teams and working groups.

Highlights from these second Quadrimestre meetings include:

  • The Operations Working Group meets monthly focusing on the day-to-day operations of McDougall as well addresses any pressing concerns. During our meetings we are updated on the key work of this group as well as each member of the Leadership Council receives the Record of Business following each meeting. Thank you to Amber Cannon for being the constant Member-at-large on this working group.

  • The South Calgary Cluster (includes McDougall, Ogden, Red Deer Lake, Fish Creek, Lakeview, and Southview United Churches) provided updates on their plans for joint social justice initiatives in the areas such as  the UCC Reconciliation Calls for Action Call and our shared Affirming values. If anyone is interested in learning more about this group, please contact Rev. Bob Mutlow.

  • On behalf of McDougall, we completed the Structural Change Evaluation Survey for the UCC. Here is a link for more information on the Organization and Governance of the UCC, https://united-church.ca/community-and-faith/organization-and-governance .

  • The Congregational Wellness Survey for the Chinook Winds Region was completed on McDougall’s behalf by Barrie Clayton, Joanne Pritchard, Amber Cannon, and Norma May.

  • Updates and discussions regarding the Shared Ministry Team continue to be a crucial part of our meetings. During the past four months, we have had an opportunity to hear recommendations from the Joint Visioning and Planning Group regarding an additional part-time person for the Shared Ministry Team. After considerable discussion related to this topic the council asked for a more detailed plan that will outline the division of ministerial responsibilities once a fourth member is added to the team.

  • For those interested the Leadership Council minutes can be found posted in the Hospitality Hall, in a binder in the library, and on the McDougall website https://www.mcdunited.com/leadership-council .

If anyone is interested in becoming a member of the Leadership Council please contact the church office, Daren Patterson (daren.denise@gmail.com), or Joanne Pritchard (jmpritchard@shaw.ca). Our next regularly scheduled meeting will be on October 7th, 2025 @7pm.

Respectfully submitted by,

Daren Patterson
