Pastoral Care First Quadrimestre Report (January - April) 2026

Clergy: Rev. Bill Weaver

Committee : Shirley Wilding, Sharon Hudspeth, Katie Mutlow, Joan Johnston, & Esther Petersen 

As Pastoral Care Minister, Rev. Bill serves McDougall, Ogden, and Red Deer Lake phoning and visiting people.  While Rev. Joanne Anquist is on medical leave, Rev. Bill has taken over the position as full time Spiritual Lead Minister and Rev. Grant Dawson has been 3/4 time, 30 hours a week. preaching and doing Pastoral Care.  Rev. Danah is back to 20 hours a week – half time at his request.

Jan. 7, 2026 Zoom meeting : Rev. Bill proposed a fund raiser to refill the very low funds in the Benevolent Fund which the clergy uses to help people in crisis situations. An anonymous donor will match up to $10,000.00 up to the end of Feb.

Marilyn Bates has agreed to take over as convener of the Operations Working group.

After discussion at the meeting, the Pastoral Care Team decided to ask for volunteers in the congregation as our group is unable and uninterested in taking on the task of a new Photo Directory of the congregation at this time.

Jan. 18 was a Town Hall meeting after church and a chili lunch to provide information about Rev. Joanne’s medical leave and update on Joint Ministry team.

Rev. Grant has found Notebird handy to track Pastoral Care people.

The Grieving Through Grace group is a free 12 week session and is funded by a grant.

The date for the Seniors’ Lunch will be Tuesday, May 5, 2026. Rev. Bill will contact Mari Croizier regarding Table Centres for Seniors’ Lunch

The Pastoral Care workshop on Visiting with Red Deer Lake will be postponed until after Rev. Joanne’s medical leave.

Lent started on Tuesday, Feb. 17 with a Pancake Supper cooked by Red Deer Lake men and Ashes service following.

Photo Directory: 4 people have volunteered to start this project. They are checking on commercial quotes; asking other churches (Ogden & Red Deer Lake), people opting in and choice about what is printed and costs.
