Mabel Martin Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother Mabel Martin, 85, on July 18, 2025. Born on February 13, 1940, in Nokomis Sask.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom, and love in abundance. A friend to many, she was a cherished member of the Acadia community where she lived with her family for 53 years.

Mabel worked as an accounts payable clerk at Jack Carter Chevrolet on Macleod trail for 28 years. She enjoyed the people she worked with.

Mabel attended McDougall United Church for over four decades, she was a choir member, Sunday school teacher and joined many clubs over the years. This is where she and dad met so many of their lifelong friends.

Mabel enjoyed reading, playing cards, especially long rummy, spending time with family and friends. She loved the sport of curling, during the months of February and March she would be glued to the TV watching the Scotties Tournament of Hearts and The Brier.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 45 years, Alan (Al) Martin who welcomed her with open arms in heaven. Mabel missed him everyday they were true soulmates. She is also predeceased by her daughter Charlene and grandson Samual.

She will be lovingly remembered by her two children, Thomas (Kathy) and daughter Deanna; her grandchildren: Patrick (Kristen), Phillip, Stephanie (Kevin), Jake, Isabelle, and Cale; great grandchildren: Violet, Jasmine, Jasper, and Zoey.

The family gives special thanks to the staff at Pinecrest Manor nursing home in Lucknow Ont., her home for the last 4 years who respectfully cared for Mabel.

A Celebration of Mabel’s life will be held on Saturday August 9, 2025, at McDougall United Church (8516 Athabasca St. S.E, Calgary Alberta) commencing at 2:00pm.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to Alzheimers Society of Canada or McDougall United Church, Calgary, would be appreciated by the family. Donations and condolences may be made online at www.daveylinklaterfuneralhome.com
