Prepared to Drown is a monthly recorded podcast & live event with a variety of exciting themes exploring the intersection of faith & the world we live in today.
Podcast Episode: “Uncharted Bodies”
Fitness culture and faith both shape how we understand our bodies. In a culture saturated with metrics, endurance goals, and moralized ideas of health, we reflect on fitness, discipline, recovery, injury, shame, strength, and the quiet, persistent messaging that we are never quite enough — whether that’s fast enough, strong enough, lean enough, or faithful enough.
Join us for an honest exploration of bodies as sites of struggle, grace, limitation, potential, and belovedness.
Podcast features: Rev. Bill Weaver, Ricardo De Menezes and special guest Treena Duncan.
Treena Duncan is the Executive Minister; Chinook Winds & Pacific Mountain Regions of The United Church of Canada
Treena’s work focuses on leadership development, community flourishing, and helping people navigate complexity with courage, imagination, and care. In recent years, Treena has become increasingly interested in the connection between spirituality and the body. Through her own renewed commitment to fitness — and her experience with OrangeTheory — she has come to see physical practice as a form of spiritual practice.
Space is limited, please let us know that you are coming. We do have a waitlist for if this event fills up. If we have a cancellation, you will be contacted.
Join us every month on the third Friday for a new podcast recording. 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm.
